Publicist
Scot Byrd oversees corporate publicity and brand positioning for Rhythm & Hues Studios. He
directs the studio’s publicity outreach for its movie releases
and serves as the key liason with journalists and editors in the
mainstream and trade press for both domestic and international media
outlets. In addition, Scot liaises with studio marketing and
publicity execs on press junkets, dvd and epk productions and awards
campaigns.
Under Scot’s direction, Rhythm & Hues has been featured in numerous mainstream
publications including Time, Newsweek, The Los Angeles Times and
Wired, and the trade journals Variety and The Hollywood
Reporter. In the broadcast arena, the studio has been spotlighted
on Access Hollywood, HBO’s First Look Special and The
News Hour with Jim Lehrer, to name a few.
Prior to joining Rhythm & Hues, Scot was head of publicity for VIFX, the Fox-owned visual
effects studio that merged with R&H in 1999. He developed a
specialization in public relations for entertainment and arts
organizations while receiving advanced training in acting and
screenwriting, generating publicity and marketing communications for
California Institute of the Arts, Pepsico, the Texas Arts Council,
Virgin Video, The Alley Theatre, and the UCLA Student Film Festival.
A multi-hyphenate, Scot is an accomplished screenwriter, actor, singer, songwriter and musician.
Scot earned an MFA from the UCLA Film School’s graduate
screenwriting program as well as a BFA from the profesional actor
training program at CalArts. He operates a home-based recording
project studio, and is an avid road cyclist.
