The studio has received first place awards from virtually all of the major competitions which recognize excellence in computer graphics; in 2008, the studios’ work on “The Golden Compass” was recognized with the Academy Award^® and the BAFTA Award for Achievement in Visual Effects. Rhythm & Hues won its first Oscar in 1995 for “Babe,” and was nominated in 2005 for its work on “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” The studio is the recipient of three Scientific and Technical Academy Awards; the most recent, in 2008, recognizes the development of the studios’ proprietary fluid simulation tools.

In addition to films, Rhythm & Hues is an industry leader in the production of commercial advertising. Rhythm + Hues Commercial Studios is comprised of both CGI and Live Action production units, offering ad agencies a full range of creative design and production options. Recent commercial campaigns include Nasonex, SeaWorld, VW, Hartford, Crayola, Microsoft, Chevrolet and Cox Communications. The Coca-Cola Polar Bears and GEICO's popular Gecko originated at Rhythm + Hues Commercials Studios.

The studios’ Design Division is a full service pre-viz lab and production resource for movies, print, commercials and specialty clients, with a diverse array of creative options, including original design for characters, products, environments and automobiles.
