Rhythm & Hues Animation Teams Brought the Furry Rock Stars to Life for Twentieth Century Fox

LOS ANGELES – March 31st. 2008: “Alvin & the Chipmunks,” with animation produced by Rhythm & Hues Studios, clinched the coveted orange Blimp for Favorite Movie at Nickelodeon's 2008 Kids' Choice Award during a live telecast Saturday night, March 29 at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.

The awards were broadcast in more than 228 million households worldwide. Kids cast nearly 87 million votes in 18 different categories, more than doubling last year's record-breaking vote record, according to nick.com.

Rhythm & Hues produced 500 shots with a crew of 400 digital artists, led by visual effects supervisor Todd Shifflett and visual effects producer Karey Maltzahn, with animation directed by Chris Bailey and Lyndon Barrois.

The Kid’s Choice Award underscores “Alvin & the Chipmunks’” phenomenal box office appeal: the family movie gathered in $350 million worldwide. “Alvin” arrives on DVD this week, released by Fox Home Entertainment.

“Alvin & The Chipmunks” fellow nominees in the Favorite Movie category were “Transformers” and “Pirates of the Carribbean: At World’s End.”
