THE JOURNEY AND THE DESTINATION
Steve Beck directs spots for Chevrolet Tahoe
May 24, 2006 – Los Angeles: Director Steve Beck of Rhythm + Hues Commercial Studios has completed a new bi-lingual campaign for Accentmarketing and Campbell-Ewald featuring the new Chevrolet Tahoe. The spots are targeted toward the Hispanic market.
“Hacienda” features a family driving their Tahoe to visit their grandparents. As the mother opens a keepsake box of family photos and heirlooms, she reminisces:
A journey starts with a beginning
It’s ushered forward, flowing through time, flowing through life
The memories we have shape the lives we live
They create what we become, to ourselves and to others
But how far do our journeys have to take us in order to come home
And more importantly, how do we get there
This is my journey, and has become my American Revolution
After passing through breathtaking scenery, the family finally arrives at the hacienda and reunites with their grandparents.
In “Sunflower,” a young couple in a Tahoe travels through gorgeous meadows of CG sunflowers. The sunflowers turn and watch as the Tahoe passes by; some even blossom upon seeing the car. The couple drives up a mountain and arrives at a house above a glorious valley of sunflowers.
“I loved working with this client; the Hispanic market is an amazingly creative one to explore. It offers a fascinating culture, storytelling opportunities and both character and landscape studies,” says Beck.
The spots were lensed by David Darby in Carmel, Napa Valley, Petaluma, Sonoma and Point Reyes, California. Telecine was handled by both Spy Post and The Syndicate. Jay Lizarraga edited the spots at R+H and John Heller was the Lead Flame Artist at R+H. John-Mark Austin was the CG Director at R+H and Andrew Sinagra was the Visual FX Supervisor at Ntropic. Greg Witkorski at Push MP designed the sound. Hispanic and English versions of the spots began airing in spring ‘06.
