Two 60-second
original spots join growing series of inspired film shorts;
Exclusive launch parties held in New York and LA reinforce Bombay
Sapphire’s commitment to inspired film directors
May 22, 2003 (NEW YORK, NY) – Bombay Sapphire®,
the fastest growing super-premium imported gin, today announced
the continuation of its successful broadcast campaign "Sapphire
Inspired Films®" with the release of two new cinematic
shorts. The new film pieces were first celebrated at an exclusive
screening in New York on May 15, and will also be screened
on May 22 at a private media event in Los Angeles. The film
shorts will launch Memorial Day weekend on local and national
cable stations in 15 markets.
The two newest short films are entitled “Big Idea”
by Randy Roberts, who has won ten CLIO awards for his groundbreaking
spots, and "Drift" by PSYOP Productions, who has
created spots for top brands including AT&T, Intel, Starbucks,
Volkswagen, and VH1. The spots are strikingly different in
look, feel and texture, but each display a central theme of
inspiration throughout. The directors were chosen by Margeotes
| Fertitta + Partners after a vigorous selection process to
represent on film Bombay Sapphire's elegance, style and uniqueness.
The spots offer unique perspectives on the topics of artistic
inspiration and beauty. “Big Idea” is a colorful
piece featuring a 30-foot man on a stage knocking around graphic
symbols until he discovers inspiration, while the animated
“Drift” begins with a lovely young woman blowing
on a dandelion, which scatters and embarks upon a journey
through nature before reaching a handsome young man.

The continuing Sapphire Inspired Films campaign demonstrates
Bombay Sapphire’s support of the film community’s
most inspired directors. In addition to launching the newest
Sapphire Inspired Films at its New York and LA events, Bombay
Sapphire will also present exclusive screenings of “Manito,”
by NY-based director Eric Eason, who has won several prestigious
awards from film festivals including Sundance and Tribeca.
“Manito” will be released to the public on June
12. The screening of “Manito” is the first of
many planned events to support and showcase film directors,
which will include exclusive screenings, film events, as well
as Bombay Sapphire’s sponsorship of the Telluride Film
Festival.
