Award Highlights Studio's Depth of VFX Experience
MARINA DEL REY, CA -- February 25th, 2002: Twentieth Century Fox and New Regency Productions have awarded Rhythm & Hues Studios the visual effects contract for "Daredevil," an adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics property which stars Ben Affleck and is being directed by Mark Steven Johnson.
Announcing the award in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rich Thorne, VP of visual effects for Fox and the overall VFX supervisor for "Daredevil," said "Rhythm & Hues offered me a top-notch team and whatever we needed to get this movie done."
R&H Film Division prexy Richard Hollander will watch over the more than 300 VFX shots for the film that will be supervised by Rhythm & Hues' Derek Spears. The effects include a fully CG Daredevil character, virtual sets and cutting edge visual effects.
Hollander said, "This is a very unique project and we are excited to be working with Mark Johnson and Rich Thorne."

Other recent Film Division productions include key sequences in "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Apprentice," (including the acclaimed "Sorting Hat"),"Lord of the Rings" and "Planet of the Apes." Rhythm & Hues has just completed all the effects on the thriller "Sum of All Fears," and is currently in production on "Scooby Doo" and Martin Brest's "Gigli." The award winning Commercial Division is renowned for its work on the Coca Cola "Polar Bears," Nintendo "Game Boy" series and Mazda's "Cool World" as welll as numerous other spots which play nationally and worldwide.
In 1995, the studio received the Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects for its work on "Babe." In addition, it has received two Scientific and Technical Academy Awards, as well as first place awards from virtually all the international competitions which recognize excellence in computer graphics. A pioneering leader in its field, Rhythm & Hues celebrates its 15th Anniversary in April, 2002.
