Erika Wangberg Burton

Executive Producer, Senior Vice President of Production

A visual effects producer since 1996, Erika Wangberg Burton has worked at several major effects and animation facilities in the entertainment industry, with a career spanning more than twenty years. As Executive Producer and Sr. VP of Production for Rhythm & Hues’ Film division, Erika oversees production of the studio’s numerous movie projects.

Erika’s teams have produced effects and animation for the Academy Award-winning “The Golden Compass,” (Achievement in Visual Effects, 2008), the highly successful “Alvin & Chipmunks” and “Night at the Museum” franchises, as well as such other recent work as “Knight & Day,” “Marmaduke,” “The A-Team,” “The Wolf Man,” and “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.” The studio’s upcoming film releases include “Little Fockers,” ” “Charlie St. Cloud,” “Yogi Bear,” “Red Riding Hood,” “Cabin in the Woods” and “Hop.”

Before being promoted to executive producer, Erika was the VFX producer for Rhythm & Hues on the Oscar-nominated “Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” and produced “Evan Almighty” and “Dr. Seuss’ ‘The Cat in the Hat’” for the studio.

Prior to joining Rhythm & Hues in 2002, Erika produced effects at The Secret Lab /Dream Quest Images from 1996, on such films as “Reign of Fire,” “The Kid,” “Bicentennial Man,” “Instinct” and “Deep Rising.” From 1992 to 1996 she moved up through the ranks at Industrial Light + Magic, working on “Mission: Impossible,” “Men in Black” and other projects. Erika’s early career featured stints at Jim Henson Productions, Showtime Networks and Triad Artists.

Erika is a graduate of UCLA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in History.
