Position Summary

Support the cutting-edge systems and network infrastructure in the studio to ensure high uptime and efficient utilization of resources for production of visual effects & computer generated imagery. Troubleshoot user issues related to workstations and provide technical support. Work in tandem with other support personnel to ensure smooth production functions.

Responsibilities

· Maintain and manage systems and networking resources.
· Support systems to ensure 24 x 7 uptime.
· Monitor the servers for performance metrics and undertake preventive maintenance.
· Perform hardware maintenance and troubleshooting, maintain hardware inventory.
· Install workstations, servers and other networking equipment.
· Work with the Systems Administrator to plan and optimize the systems infrastructure.
· Monitor the systems and network performance and usage.
· Carry out Backup and Restore as per defined procedures.
· Update track and maintain an adequate inventory of hardware and peripherals.

Required Skills

· Linux experience (proficiency with basic tools, such as Unix shells, tar, ftp, rsh, ps, etc.).
· Shell Scripting experience.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
· Good communication skills.
· Profeciency in hardware assembling and component level troubleshooting.

Desired Skills

· Server administration experience.
· Experience with a large installation Unix / Linux environment.
· Experience with high-end graphics workstations.
· Experience in supporting a large customer base.
