Linux Systems Administrator

Position Summary

We are looking for Linux Administrators who are willing to wear multiple hats and be responsible for installing and supporting critical Linux workstations, networks and infrastructure across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

·  Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues
·  Resolve support requests and perform infrastructure maintainence
·  Troubleshoot hardware and software problems with servers and workstations
·  Perform general system maintainence and support
·  Install, upgrade and maintain hardware, software and peripherals
·  Identify tasks which require automation and automate them
·  Evaluate and qualify relevant new technologies and process suggestions
·  Analyze trends in system utilization to predict future growth for capacity planning purposes
·  Recommend and establish policies on system use and services
·  Produce documentation
·  Train end-users as needed

Required Skills/Experience

Must Have skills
· 4+ years of related experience
· Intimate knowledge of Linux/Unix
· Experience with Linux/Unix in medium to large enterprises
· Shell and Perl scripting to automate system administration functions
· Ability to troubleshoot PC software problems, hardware problems, and connectivity issues
· Experience supporting end users
· Ability to work independently and with other members of a team
· Ability to follow through on support requests in a timely manner, escalating to other members of the team when appropriate

Good to have
· A computer science degree is very helpful, but not required
· Experience in a 3D animation/post production facility
· Exposure to 3D modeling, 3D animation, 3D character setup, 3D lighting and 2D compositing
· 3D and 2D computer graphics programming experience
· Experience with Maya and Maya MEL scripting
