Digital Rotoscope ArtistPosition Summary
A digital rotoscope artist is responsible for creating extremely detailed digital mattes using 2D image processing and drawing tools. These mattes are used for wire removals, rig removals, background fixes, and blue screen extractions.
Considered an entry level position with potential for growth into Digital Artist: Compositor position.
Required Skills/Experience
1) Degree in Fine Arts in graphic design, animation, drawing, or equivalent experience
2) Knowledge and experience of Shake, Nuke, Digital Fusion or any other node based software
3) Good Painting skills would be an added advantage
4) Should have an eye for detail and patience to consistently do high quality work
5) UNIX skills (preferably Linux)
6) Excellent English communication skills (including written, verbal and report generating skills)
7) Experience working in the Film/entertainment industry
8) Freshers with a burning desire to excel in this field may also apply
Regarding demo reels
1) Strong demo reel/portfolio showing high quality computer graphics imagery and showcasing aesthetic skills
2) Reel should showcase detailed and high quality mattes and basic compositing concepts over live action plates demonstrating proficiency in rotoscopy, chroma keying, camera tracking, warp, paint skills
3) Live action shots with "before" and "after" versions of matte extractions against a grey background
4) Shot breakdown sheet (including your role on each shot and what software was used)
