Betsy Paterson
Visual Effects Supervisor

Betsy Paterson is leading Rhythm & Hues work on Marvel Studios’ “The Incredible Hulk,” slated for a Summer 2008 release.

Betsy’s experience overseeing the creation and animation of other titular hero characters includes “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties,” and both of the “Scooby-Doo” franchise movies. Betsy’s VFX supervision is also seen in “The Ring 2” and “Intolerable Cruelty.” In addition, she has provided expert set supervision on such projects as “The Rundown” and “Elf.”

After first gaining the attention of Rhythm & Hues in 1996, Betsy served as lead compositor on “Mouse Hunt,” Dreamwork’s first live action release. Her rise at R&H started with 2D supervisor duties on “Babe: Pig in the City” and “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.” She was actively involved in the development and expansion of R&H’s 2D department before being elevated to VFX supervisor on “Scooby-Doo.”

Betsy developed her extensive knowledge of compositing techniques in the mid-90’s through her early positions at Manhattan Transfer, where she worked as a Flame artist, and later as an Inferno artist at the Computer Film Company, where she soon became the go-to digital artist for projects featuring CG characters in live action settings.

Betsy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film from Vassar College.
