Ray Chen is the Rhythm & Hues visual effects supervisor on “Chronicle” for 20th Century Fox. Ray recently contributed in the same capacity on the family comedy “Hop” for Universal Pictures. He also supervised R&H’s work on “Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian” for Fox.

As co-visual effects supervisor on the Academy Award®-winning “The Golden Compass,” Ray led the Rhythm & Hues’ Look Development team for the numerous realistic animal “daemons” featured in the fantasy epic.

Since joining Rhythm & Hues in 1996, Ray has contributed to several films, including “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” as co-vfx supervisor; “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” as lighting/compositing sequence supervisor; “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” as lighting supervisor; and “X-Men 2” as lighting lead. Ray started out at R&H as a lighting technical director on “Scooby Doo,” “Cats & Dogs,” “Little Nicky,” “The 6th Day,” “Mystery Men,” “Babe: Pig in the City,” “Mouse Hunt” and “Speed 2.”

Ray earned a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Brown University, and an Master of Fine Arts in Computer Graphics from Pratt Institute. While completing school, he worked in New York doing commercial production.
