GARY NOLIN
- VISUAL EFFECTS PRODUCER
Gary Nolin recently served as the visual effects producer for Rhythm & Hues’ work on “Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked,” the third installment in the hugely successful Chipmunks franchise for 20th Century Fox. He also oversaw vfx production on “Moneyball,” starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, for Columbia Pictures.
Gary has lent his production expertise to over 200 television and film projects, including several award-winning and nominated projects. Gary was the vfx producer for Rhythm & Hues on its Academy Award-winning production of “The Golden Compass” for New Line Pictures, (Achievement in Visual Effects, 2008), and held the same role for Rhythm & Hues on the Oscar-winning “Happy Feet” which won Best Animated Feature in 2006.
In addition to those listed above, Gary’s previous productions with Rhythm & Hues include “Marmaduke,” “They Came From Upstairs,” “Charlotte’s Web,” “The Skeleton Key,” “Serenity,” “Elektra,” “Flight of the Phoenix,” “Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” “Solaris,” “The Ring,” “Dr. Dolittle 2” and “Fantasia 2000.”
Prior to joining Rhythm & Hues in 1999, Gary was a producer for Blue Sky | VIFX, where one of his projects was to oversee the Engine Room miniature effects sequence in “Titanic.” He went on to head the company’s physical production unit, leading extensive miniature shoots for “The X-Files” movie and “Blade,” along with several commercial shoots.
Hailing from Agawam, Massachusetts, Gary received a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth in 1981. He moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and began working as a freelance production manager on television commercials. In 1988, he was the associate producer for the feature film “The Feud,” and began a distinguished career as a freelance producer, traveling extensively through the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Italy and Egypt.
