The Golden Compass

Chris Weitz directed this family fantasy based on the award-winning novel by Philip Pullman which takes place in a parallel universe where a young girl journeys to the far North to save her best friend and other kidnapped children from terrible experiments by a mysterious organization. In this world, all people, children and adults, have animal "daemons" i.e. physical manifestations of their souls. Rhythm & Hues VFX Supervisor Bill Westenhofer (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”) earned an Academy Award® for his work leading the Rhythm & Hues team and their work on the daemons, as well as digital set extensions and fluid simulations.
