Gautham Krishnamurti oversees the computing resources of Rhythm & Hues Studios, the Academy Award®-winning animation and visual effects studio whose operations encompass its Los Angeles-based headquarters, three international facilities and 1100 employees worldwide. A 2010 recipient of the Scientific & Technical Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), Gauth was an integral member of the team that developed the Queue, Rhythm & Hues’ distributed render management system.

Gauth began his career in the entertainment industry in 1994, as a software engineer at BOSS Film Studios, where he was part of the team that developed the real-time motion capture system used on “Species.” He also developed the real-time compositing system used for “Multiplicity.” In 1996, he moved to VIFX, and designed and developed their Digital Playback System, (of which the backend is still in use at R&H). Gauth then served as head of software for Metrolight Studios from 1998-1999, before joining Rhythm & Hues as MIS manager in 2000, a position he held until being promoted to CTO in 2010.

Born in Singapore, Gauth moved to Chennai, India, when he was 7. Later, he earned a Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Madras in 1990, then moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M, where he earned a Masters in Computer Science in 1994. He moved to Los Angeles in the same year, which he now considers home.
